From the rocking chair to the gas station — where and how does gasoline get into the tanks of our cars? Probably, questions arise only when it is relevant for you, when you are satisfied as a user or Vice versa. Fuel comes from various suppliers, including Ukrainian refineries, global companies, and domestic mini-refineries. Therefore, its quality depends on many factors, while it gets into the tank may suffer significant changes. So let's take a closer look at the gasoline supply route to understand this complex process! The origin of Ukrainian gas stations was in the 90s, during the global shortage of petroleum products and based on gas stations of the former USSR. Gas stations and significantly different from today's companies with a complex of additional services.
Closer to the 2000s, large networks of gas stations appeared, such as VOG, OKKO, Glusko, and others .. Over time, they were modernized to meet modern trends and created co-corporations. Therefore, if at the initial stage of development of network market players there were just over 2000, today their number has exceeded 7000 units.
Now on the map of Ukraine we see a uniform distribution of gas stations, starting with highways and ending with points of sale in the city. Although domestic producers meet the market needs by no more than 20%, in turn, 80% is exported. The leaders were: the Belarusian oil company, which occupied half of the Ukrainian market with its products. The main focus is on affordable oil from Russia and the geographical proximity of Ukraine. Privat group, which is able to cover 16% of the supply of gasoline and diesel fuel. At the same time, the main share is accounted for by Ukrtatnafta products, and the company also supplies oil by sea, purchasing it in Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan.
The Swiss supplier is proton energy. The doormen picked up the assets of the Ukrainian representative of Rosneft. The company's share of deliveries is just under 15%.
The Polish market player is PKN Orlen. The company is gradually losing its position in Ukraine, and its share has decreased to 8% since 2016.
Today, according to market experts, the system that provides Ukraine with fuel is in balance due to competition from suppliers. Also, the unexpected introduction of a special duty by Andrey Gerus made the fuel supply process more regulated and reduced dependence on Russia.
Currently, the Ukrainian refineries are Kremenchug and shebelinsky.
So, the fuel gets to the tank farm through the main oil pipeline or by rail. It will be drained only after the research is carried out in the laboratory available on the territory. Draws fuel through pipes to the pumping station. Among the mass of valves and kilometers of pipes, fuel ends up in storage tanks. All work is performed only by employees of the tank farm. And information on monitoring the overall picture of the process, everything related to the characteristics of storage in tanks and fuel supply to a specific car, is systematized and stored.
Back to transportation, the base employees seal the tank with fuel, information with seal numbers is entered in the invoice, which the driver will present at the gas station. To exclude the possibility of draining, the hoses and tank are also sealed, and the possible presence of water in the tank is checked with a dipstick with special oil. Also take a sample of gasoline, which will be stored in case of possible claims. And only then does the gasoline enter the storage, and then we, respectively!
And of course, it is better to choose gas stations that are proven by time and quality of fuel. If, however, it happened that the quality of fuel disappointed you and you intend to officially report it, then you must have a receipt for payment of services, a statement signed by a gas station employee or witnesses. We hope that this information will be useful to you only in the context of General development, because the rapid progress of the industry has led to a new quality of fuel, in which a low-quality product is less and less possible!
